Multi Tab Call

Turn on Multi-tab call support so agents can answer and handle calls from any klink.cloud browser tab.

Let agents work in many klink.cloud tabs at once while calls keep working, no matter which tab they are in.

What it is

Multi-tab call support is a workspace setting in the Call Settings card under Settings, then General Settings. It changes how the softphone connects your extension when an agent has more than one klink.cloud tab open.

  • Off (default): each klink.cloud browser tab starts its own softphone and connects your extension. If you open several tabs, browsers, or devices, they can compete for the same extension.

  • On: normal tabs do not connect your extension. Instead, one small popup window called the call tab (titled Klink Telephony) connects your extension. All your other tabs show call status from the call tab, and you can answer and handle calls from any tab.

This setting applies to the whole workspace and is off by default. You need admin access to General Settings to change it.

When to use it

Turn it on when:

  • Agents work in many tabs at the same time (for example Inbox, Contacts, and Tickets side by side).

  • You want calls to keep ringing and working no matter which tab an agent is looking at.

Leave it off when:

  • Agents usually work in a single klink.cloud tab.

Turn on Multi-tab call support (admins)

  1. Go to Settings, then General Settings.

  2. Find the Call Settings card.

  3. Turn on the Multi-tab call support switch (description: "Use call with multiple browser tabs.").

  4. Ask your agents to close and reopen, or refresh, all of their klink.cloud tabs.

To turn the feature off again, follow the same steps and turn the switch off.

Start your call tab (agents)

When Multi-tab call support is on, follow these steps at the start of each shift:

  1. Open klink.cloud in one browser tab.

  2. Click the phone icon in the header.

  3. Click Open call tab.

  4. When your browser asks, allow pop-ups, notifications, and the microphone for klink.cloud.

  5. Wait until the call bar shows in the call tab.

  6. Keep the call tab open. You can minimize it, but do not close it.

  7. Open as many other klink.cloud tabs as you need. Calls ring and can be handled from any of them.

If the call tab is not running, the phone icon in the header shows a crossed-out phone. Click it to see "Your inbound call tab is closed or disconnected." Then click Open call tab to start it again.

Rules to keep calls working

  • Use one call tab per agent.

  • Do not use the same extension at the same time anywhere else. This includes another browser, another computer, the klink.cloud Chrome dialer, or any other softphone app that uses the same extension.

  • The phone system allows only one active login per extension. A second login can disconnect the first one.

Troubleshooting

"Registration failed"

This usually means the same extension is connected in more than one place, or old tabs from before the setting was changed are still open.

  1. Close all klink.cloud tabs and windows on every browser and computer you use.

  2. Sign out of the klink.cloud Chrome dialer and any other softphone app that uses the same extension.

  3. Open klink.cloud in one tab and do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).

  4. Click the phone icon, then Open call tab, and wait for the call bar to show.

Other cases:

  • Only a normal tab shows "Registration failed", and the call tab looks fine: refresh that tab.

  • The call tab itself shows "Registration failed / Please refresh to reconnect.": click Reload in the call tab.

  • It still fails: ask your admin to turn Multi-tab call support off, then test with a single tab.

  • It also fails with the setting off: check your VPN or firewall. If the problem continues, contact support with a screenshot of the error, the agent's name, and the extension number.

The call tab does not open

Your browser is probably blocking pop-ups. Allow pop-ups for the klink.cloud site, then click the phone icon and Open call tab again.

No ring while the call tab is in the background

  • Make sure browser notifications and sound are allowed for the klink.cloud site.

  • Check that the call tab window is still open (minimized is fine, closed is not).
